Today is Memorial Day and most of us probably have the day off.
I hope we will take a moment to remember why...
In the past two-hundred thirty-four years…
Over one million brave men and women have given their lives to protect what we hold most precious…
From the battle of Lexington and Concord,
To the bloodshed at Antietam,
From the trenches of World War One,
To the bombing at Pearl Harbor,
From Korea and Vietnam,
To the deserts of Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq;
Today we remember…
We honor…
And we thank the men and women who have fought to establish and preserve of freedom.
